What would be the significance of the date 12.9.1962 to Ford?

I am getting a vintage Hanhart stop watch which has the Ford script oval LOGO above 12.9.1962 engraved on the back.

While I am not 100% sure if it refers to Dember 9th, 1962 or September 12th 1962 I am leaning towards Dember 9th, 1962.

I found some reference to a Nassau Trophy Race held that day in which a Ford Galaxy won it's class, but there seems to be little other information?

I don't know if this stopwatch relates to that race or not, but being a stopwatch I can only imagine it is for racing.

Any Ford racing historian's out there?
