Default 4f50n on a windstar

I have an 2003 Windstar with 240K on the beast, I bought it from my mom with 140K. I have been doing the maintenance on it and have done several complete transmission flushes and filter changes on it. The other day I was at a stop sign and it acted like it had jumped into neutral and I had no engagement in any of the gears. When I got it back home, I checked the transmission fluid with the car off and then checked with the car running. The pump is pumping because the level on the stick dropped. I picked up a new neutral safety switch and installed, hoping by chance that was the problem, but it was not. There were no codes that popped, is there any other electrical problems that some one has run into that could cause this before I start pulling out the transmission. My only fear is that the chain inside the transmission has broken. One good thing it did it when I was home, I just got back from a road trip to Wisconsin. I looked up the VIN and there is no recall for the torque convertor issue on it. Any ideas.

The way fate works, just because there is no recall doesn't mean it can't happen.
The shaft to the pump may be turning enough to lower the level and yet not enough to build pressure to apply the clutches.
This is pure speculation and the only way to verify is to remove trans and check converter and shaft to pump.;

I was thinking that also, just trying to talk my self out of pulling the thing. I am going to get a pressure gauge and hook it up to transmission line test port tomorrow and see what the pressure is. It should not be able to get up to operating pressure if the pump shaft is slipping on the torque convertor.
