Default New here. Can anyone help with C4

Hello,
I am new here and I need help with my C4 trans. I have a Green Dot Trans circa 1967-68. I have removed the pump to change the shaft and pump seal. When I did, I found a small pin sitting at the bottom of the pump mounting surface. I cannot figure out where it came from or where it goes. It looks like some type of centering or metering pin. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I do not recall seeing anything like that in the trans. Might be a good idea to look closely for a blind hole in the trans case where that might be an alignment pin for proper positioning of the pump housing assy. There should be a corresponding hole in the pump housing for that pin to fit into if that is the case.
