I recently came across an issue that has me a bit baffled. My girlfriend has a 2002 windstar LX with about 86,000 miles on it. She was driving it to work this afternoon and the check engine light came on, and at the exact same time the lights in the insrument cluster went out. Has anyone ever heard of something like this happening? I would have assumed that the instrument cluster would have absolutely no affect on the check engine light, or vise versa. I have not yet had the trouble code read, I plan to do that tomorrow, but if there is anyone out there that has any insight into what is going on I would greatly appreciate your input. My 2003 just did the same thing. Lost the over drive switch, speedo, odometer, & the brake lights are on. Still runs well otherwise. Hope somone answers.
