I HAVE A 2002 WINDSTAR , SOMETIMES THE VAN WILL NOT START ( JUST CLICKS WITH THE 4 WAY FLASHERS AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLASHING) I CAN JUMP IT OFF AND IT WILL CRANK. IS THERE ANYBODY THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM ORCAN HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM ? THANKS

 

Hello and good day:

First you do not need to SHOUT...lol...(CAP LOCK ON)..

You have a Starter Problem....Your Starter Solenoid has Fried...This is where you are getting the "Clicking" sound from the relay...in the Main Fuse Box.

Have the Starter Replaced...( I would suggest a Good Rebuilt).

I thought it might be the starter ,but the 4 way flashers and headlight flashing when i turned the key over had me confused. I thoughtsomething with the alarm system was going wrong because of the lights .It has done this twice in the last week but you can jump it off with no problem at all . All other times it cranks fine with no problem.

 

I am truly sorry I forgot to address the Flashers, and Headlight issue...Forgive me... Your Van thinks you are trying to steal it...it is part of the Passive Anti-Theft system...PATS..

You may need to replace the Starter...then have the System Reprogramed....I would strongly suggest you go to your local trusted Ford Dealer and have this done.
