I have to replace my transmission in my 95 ford windstar (suprise suprise) I have acess to a Ax4s f48z-7000-brm newly rebuilt.(For very cheep) My current Tranny is an Ax4s f48p-7000BB. I am told that they can be changed by swapping out the ECU.
First what is an ECU? and second how involved is the swapping out of the ECU?
I am a back yard do it yourselfer and have tons of experance swapping out tranies motors ect but have not done much tranny work. Any help would be appreciated

 

ECU is the computer. Second,you are aware that the body has to be lifted of the front subframe to swap the trans/motor?
