Aerostar 4WD Drivetrain
Hi, I just picked up a 97 Aerostar 4WD. I had a 2WD and loved it, but I am not familiar with the "Electronic" 4WD drivetrain so please forgive my ignorance.
It doesn't appear that the Aerostar drivetrain is like the AWD (V8) Explorer which is in 4WD all the time (eats horsepower, tires and transfer case chains!).
On the Aerostarare they shifting the transfer case, the hubs or what? What initiates the shift into 4WD, that is... how does the vehicle know when to engage the front axle, a guess would bewheel speed sensorsmonitoringrear wheel spin, how close am I?
Any info you can share with me would be great! Thanks, Kevin
