factory struts on 98 windstar gl
does any one know what kind of and how heavy duty the struts would have been on a 98 windstar? it had 20,000 miles on it when we got it and we thought it rode and handled very good. we installed new monroe struts about a year ago and it rode terrible.we took it back to where they did the work and they put everything on new again free. not much difference.i was wondering if the factory actually did install a better top of the line strut where this company where we just had the work done ,didnt. sorry to make this so long. we just have done a lot of work to the front end and should not be hearing any of this noise.
the tire dealer that installed the struts on the 98 windstar took the van to ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a arm under the front end which needed to be welded ,because it had broken loose and just kept enlarging and making a heck of a noise. it wasnt the struts ,but the place that installed the struts coun'nt find it. its fine know .they had a tsb on it but i dont remember the number.

Speaking of clunks over bumps, mine does that and I have replaced both struts and springs on my 98 Windstar. I can't seem to find what is causing the noise. I have also checked the front suspenssion bushings and they appear to be in good condition still.
Can you tell me something I've missed/over looked. It's been driving me nuts for the past year now.
Thanks!
