The dash had ABS warning light on ...the OBD-2 code reader reported left (driver side) ABS captor defective. Indeed it was so rusted at the magnetic part that it broke in the hole when I attempted to remove it; I had to drill out the part remaining, and use pliers to pull pieces out...just be careful to not drill too far and touch the wheel with teeth to read the wheel behavior..

As a preventive measure I changed the passenger side and it broke in the hole as well. 2001 Windstar with 220000km at time of warning light on.
