Thermostat stuck closed... i think
Hi,
installed new radiator, got most of the bubbles out, started it up, and heated up the engine, but the top radiator hose stayed cold, even though the engine was close to 200 degrees, so i took out the thermostat and tested it in boiling water, but found out it's not moving, it's a 195F thermostat, and 220 water didn't budge it, does that means the head gasket is blown?

No, but the thermostat should have opened and since it did not get another one.
What you can try if the store is too far for now, put everything back together minus the defective thermostat. Run the engine and see where the temp goes. Don't put the radiator cap on so you can watch the coolant flow inside the radiator . If everything is OK the temp should stay on the cool side of the gauge. If it doesn't get hot chances are there is not a head gasket problem.

Hi,
I went for a new gasket and thermostat, installed it and so far it's working perfect, running nice and smooth, had it hooked on the scanner to watch the temp, never went a degree over 195, had it idling for at least 30 minutes with AC on,
Will finish it up tomorrow see how it's doing when driving.
