Lightbulb Installing a Radio

I want to install a radio in my Ranchero as the original was pulled so oil pressure and temp guages could be fit in. I am floating the idea of mounting it onto the ceiling between the sun visors. Do you all have any suggestions on how to do ths? Can I use any radio I want to? How should I mount it? Thinking of just building a carriage for it to rest in. Really any suggestions would help. Also, if any of you have done this before, could you please post some pictures of it? They would be much aappreciated. Thanks.

Are you planning on mounting up a DIN type radio, or a shaft/**** type?

Not sure. I am thinking to do more of a classic look. But I still want good sound. Any suggestions?

One of the reasons I asked about the '****' type radio was,

I have a radio 'box type' mount that would work pretty nice as a roof mount. We used to pull them from older Volvo cars I think, and they were a plastic box (open in the back and the bottom 'or' top depending on if you mounted the opening facing topside, or bottom side down) and they had long side flat flanges with screw holes that could be attached to most any flatter surface. Clean looking box.

Then there were the roof type mounts like the old Ford LN series trucks. A plastic box that was contoured to the roof.. The one I have is a little more deluxe looking that the ones at this site, but the style is similar.. These seem to be priced well, and have cut outs for DIN type radios/stereos..
