Default Mercury Died

While driving my engine just died. Headlights were on and the dash lights were on, I had full battery charge. So, I coasted to a safe spot. Then the headlights shut off and my dash lights and the security system light started flashing. The engine would not restart. A month prior a similar incident occurred, but only after I had parked and shut down. The computer would not recognize the key. So I followed a procedure I found on the internet. Turn on the ignition key and wait ten minutes, then shut off the key and wait 20 seconds. Try to restart, if nothing happens repeat the procedure three times for a total of 30 minutes. Afetr the third attempt the dash lights went out and the engine started up. All systoms were good until now.

I would start by removing and cleaning of the battery connections and all grounds. There are many grounds located on the engine block, fenders and inside behind kick panels. "Looks" ok isn't good enough. Remove and clean is what should be done first.
