Default 1963 galaxies transmission problems

Hey guys,

New to the forum as I just picked up a new to me 1963 galaxies 500, with 390cu and auto transmission. Still learning about the car but started having tranny problems. I was driving around and it seemed smokey and When I pulled into the driveway I noticed it was puking trams fluid right at the flex plate. Didn't notice it was having trouble shifting except near home, but that may have been because it was low on fluid. So basically I was wondering if you guys had some inset as to what the problem may be. I'm hoping maybe a torque converter seal....

You are probably correct in your diagnosis, however, there is usually a good reason the seal goes south and that should be checked a little further.
