3.8 tbi engine in 60 falcon
Has anyone ever heard of,seen, or done a 3.8 v-6 with a c-5 trans engine swap. The straight six has on heluva knock and I want to put some thing a little better in it and it just so happens that I have a 86 couger with a good running 3.8 but the car is junk. I want to put the 3.8 in the falcon. Is it possable and worth it? Also I want to keep the fuel injection but I think thats going to be to much, where could I find a carb intake or can I just replace the trottle body with a carb and cange the distributer? Any in put would be great.
Thanks

I'd agree with dumping the fuel injection. The swap is possible but you may run into trouble getting a points distributor for a 3.8 V6 so I'd transplant an early 3.8 ignition. Also, the engine and transmission mounts may need some handy-work to make it jive. I've swapped a lot of motors and transmissions and sometimes unexpected things will happen - like the oil pan may need some professional adjustment with a hammer to fit it (only if it's made from steel - of course) else cutting or ordering a special pan may be necessary. This is especailly true when dealing with some of the straight 6 engine swaps. Personally I would rebuild and tune the straight 6 because I feel a little leary with some of the V6's with the steel oil pump gears in an aluminum housing - the two metals expand differently and I find that particlur combo. to be a time bomb. If you like the V-6 take the oil pump casing to a good machine shop and have steelinsrts put into exactly match the original aluminum contours. There I gave away the engineering flaw (they help to sell parts).
