67 galaxie brake trouble
I replaced the master cylinder on my galaxie, but it did not come with the rod, I used the old rod and now they are dragging, is it possible that the old rod is to long. i have all drum brakes.

RE: 67 galaxie brake trouble
You're supposed to use the old rod - the length will not change unless you have the wrong part (master cylinder). Did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installation? If brakes are dragging I'd assume if you've not replaced all the wheel cylinders that the old master cylinder was nearly dead and the fluids likely all shot and now all four wheel cylinders became functional and jammed in their own rust and debris due to their former near-immobility. Change the fluid out completely and when drained check all wheel cylinders if they're not new or fairly new (one or two years old) then switch them also. It is possible for a parts company to sell you junk that they deem to be "close enough" to original so you may want to check that the master cylinder is releasing totally - if the master cylinder piston isn't releasing and you have the correct rod - get the correct master cylinder and be sure to return the incorrect one if you have the receipt.
