Default 97 Contour is DOA in driveway

Wife pulled in drive, shut it off to get mail, got back in and motor turns but will not start. And will not come out of park. I had to drag it up the driveway with my truck. Lucky for her it was ice covered, only a few dry spots. LOL. Any ideas? No OBDII codes! no blown fuses!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Timing belt? or maybe the transmission interlock?

Default Bingo on one, ? on the other

I found the timing belt tensioner pulley destroyed. 3 pieces and some in a state of melted globbules. doesn't explain the shifter thing. But went out yesterday to get it in garage and it shifted out of Park the way it should. Will fix timing belt and go from there. Thank you for the response.

Well, mine just got a new timing belt and water pump yesterday. It gave some of the symptoms of belt going bad. Sound like your wife's car didn't give any warning. Count your blessings it stopped in the driveway where she was safe and sound!

Well mine just blew the new timing belt. Broke down on the highway. Not such a good thing.
