Default 2004 - sudden backfiring and bogging

replaced plugs and coils....no other related codes in obd....could a bad MAF cause such a severe issue?

car will borderline stall out when in idle...in 2500 it will pop backfire but stay running

i read you can just laser the cat pre-and post and that will confirm a clogged cat as long as the temp is lower on the back end?

If it is not too much trouble, could you please fill us in with the whole story from what code you started with and everything you did.

Without being there to make my own observations, have to rely on info you provide, thanks.

Helps if we have some idea of year , model engine size, etc.
