94 LX Trans issues...
The 94 LX in the family has about 82K miles on it, and we've just rebuilt the trans after the torque converter failed. The shop said that the trans also had substantial wear throughout, more than the mileage should've accounted for (We know the odometer is correct, having known the car for many years).
After a couple of weeks of use with the new transmission, it started to act up again--different than the stutter at freeway speeds that signaled that overdrive was just about gone. Took it back to the shop, they double checked the rebuild and verified that there wasn't anything hanging up in the valve body. They replaced the VSS, just in case. Still a problem, not consistently. Shop said that there could be a problem in the speedometer head (the speedo would not register MPH until about 20MPH). Replaced the speedo head with a known good spare. Speedo now works reliably, showing MPH as soon as we move...but the trans still feels like it's not making the shift into OD on the freeway when it should (We have 4 of these, this one just feels different). No codes showed up on the OBD1 either...
Any thoughts?
