98 Grand Marquis doesn't always start
Sometimes the car won't start, It will turn over but it's like the fuel pump isn't turning on. When this happens the fuel rail is not pressurized. Other times there is no problem and the car fires up. Could this be a problem with the pats system? when the car won't start, you can turn the key on and off a lot of times and sometimes it will start. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

A common problem with PATS involves the keys. When this happens ,try the other key. You are required to have two coded keys for that system. Just having the 2nd key handy when it refuses to start will eliminate the one key if it starts right away with the 2nd key.
If no difference, now diagnostics will need to be performed to determine the cause.

your fuel pump might be getting weak and can't keep the fuel lines pressurized enough to start the engine so it needs to have the fuel pump looked at and or replaced. does it start after turning the key on then off three times? over time the fuel pump gets weak and can't prime the fuel rail, causing the engine fail to start. that's what it does on my F150 sometimes
