I have a 1982 ltd crown victoria 5.0. In need of a brake booster. I've tried to get it from autozone, advance, oriellys u name it. No one has it nor can they get it. Does anyone know a place I can try?

 

I am in the same situation for my 85. I've tried all the local part stores plus Amazon, eBay, Rockauto, and other web sites. I've never had this much trouble trying to get a part. The compatible part number is 54-74200 for my specific application, which is manufatured/rebuilt by Cardone. I called Cardone to see if it is discontinued and they told me they still carry it. However the general public cannot order from them. It has to be ordered from a parts distributor or business. So I went to Advance to special order it (under their Wearever brand) and they keep telling me they are waiting to here back from their special order department, which all they need to do is call Cardone to order it. The local store keeps giving me the run around that they haven't been able to get a hold of their department, etc...So what I would do in our situation is call or go to each part store until you find someone that can/will order it for you. I'm starting with Rockauto now first since they are usually cheaper. Otherwise if not able to order it, I would try to find a compatible rebuild kit or find a local place that will rebuild it for you. Sometimes we had to go through a dealership to get the older vehicle parts we needed, but they did have them, new parts.

I talked to the manager at advance because the employees couldn't help. I told him what cardone told me and he said he would call. He called me back and I ordered it. $56 with core exchange. Advance auto in Lincoln Park Michigan on fort st. Maybe he'll do the same for you and ship it to you.
