Cost of new exhaust system after headers
I have a 2011 Crown Vic with headers and dual pipe flowmasters. The system behind the headers needs to be replaced, all inclusive. Sorry to say I am going to replace the flow masters with stock exhaust as the car is too loud for my wife currently. The system behind the headers has enough rust to warrant replacing them all the way back. I have an excellent mechanic and the muffler guy he referred me to gave me an estimate of about $900. I was expecting this number to be a lot lower. I am planning on going to my locally high rated Midas shop to get an estimate from them.
Does the $900 number seem high? I know I am used to dealing with prices from the last millennium but even so, I was not ready for the $900 hit. Thanks

Cutting up and removing the pipes is a pretty fast job.
The problem lies up at the exhaust manifold where the flanges rust and the studs break and now have to be removed. The estimate may be taking that into consideration.
Midas has the facilities to handle that type problem and should come in somewhat lower in price.
Please let us know how this works out for you, thanks.

If your going back to single muffler/exhaust, pre made exhaust kits are fairly cheap. Y pipe, extension pipe, muffler and tail..
Of course someone would need to change the pipe mounting flanges from/to gasket'd flat, and possible some pipe work up front since the header outlets would most likely be off center from stock routing or centering .
