Once the groove is worn in the shaft there is only two ways you can go. Repair or replace. I would not take any stock in the spinning the wheels caused this. Low Rearend fluid really hurts this set up because the axles are the end of the line. The truck guys all pack the bearings with grease and pour a small amount in the cavity because they will burn up before the fluid works its way out. Sunfish
