Default Crown Vic vs. Charger For Cops

Hi All,
It seems recently, especially in my home state of Massachusetts that police departments, on both a state and local level have begun using the Dodge Charger. I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what this might signify (ie: a move away from the Crown Vic)... I understand the viablity of the Charger for things like high speed pursuits, but for the sake of standard calls, I would think the Vic would be sufficient.
Thanks!
Andrew

One thing might be that the Crown Vic is not going to be made after Sept. 2011. It is also the only other rear wheel drive Police vehicle on the market right now.

I didn't know they were cancelling the Crown Vic after 2011, thats interesting. I guess the Dodge Charger is a viable alternative.
Thanks,
Andrew Plummer
