97 crown vic ac compressor clutch replacement

Unhappy 97 crown vic ac compressor clutch replacement

my compressor clutch is noisy and loose, do i need to remove compressor from vehicle to replace it . . . if no, will i loose the charge in the system . . . thanks

You can change the clutch and coil without removing the compressor. You will not lose any refrigerant. All you need to do is get room to access tha clutch.

thanks for replying to 97 crn vic ac clutch replacement . . . now that i dont have to remove compressor and refrigerant, do i need any special tools and/or tricks . . . any help would be appreciated . . .

Socket and a snap ring plier. Socket to remove the little bolt in front (8 or 10 mm not sure). Then the snap ring to remove the clutch coil.
