Default Dark Car Mode

I turned off the dark car mode on my 2001 Ford police intercepter
The dome light now works when I open the doors..but the red lights on the door panels dont come on..
Is there another wire that needs to be disconnected to turn them on ?

Are you sure there are bulbs in those red reflectors?

Pulled the panel out far enough to see that there are no wires running to the lenses..we will find the wires when I get the new panels ..thanks !

The door usually only had reflectors, not lights in them. Now I have seen a CVPI where they did change out the reflectors for a true low height light.

For the 2003 crown vic look under the glove box for a green connector, if its plugged in your in dark car mode, unplug it, disconnect battery wait a few reconnect, you now have dome light unless someone cut some other wires, this can be checked if the chim rings when the key is in and door is open.. hope this helps

i agree and have successfully reinstated the use of my dome lights by disconnecting the "BLUE" connector w/black wire under the glove box. This has worked on my previous P71s (1996, 1998, 1999) but it is not working on my current 1999. Currently with the "BLUE" conntector connected or disconnected I have use of my dome lights when the rear doors are open but the front doors do not activate the dome light at all.
Dome light works fine at the front light switch. (scary and dangerous getting into a dark car at night) any suggestions .

Look at the front doors and the wires. if they work in the back they should work in the front. Someone did not like the dark car mode and has cut the feed/ground that turns them on in the front. Sometimes you can go around the state and city garages and ask. Someone is going to know and most of them are OK. Sunfish
