Hello all, I'm new to the forum and I have a question for you guys. I have a 1990 Crown Vic. The car's is in great shape and the floor pans are solid but the frame is quite rusty. In fact part of the frame on the passenger's side has been fixed do to rust. The rest of the frame appears to just have a lot of surface rust. My question is if there is anymore areas that have rusted through is it possible to get it fixed with the body still on it? A local body shop said most places don't like to do frame repairs. Junking the car or parting it out is not an option as it is in fantastic shape with pretty low miles. So how can I have it fixed if it needs it? The car is in storage until April. If it matters the car has spent it's whole life in Wisconsin.

That would most likely depend on how 'accessible' the damaged area was/is. Liability wise, you can understand the apprehension.

I've done complete body/engine/trans lifts to replace compound bent frames that couldn't be straightened, or at least cost effectively. You could argue that a frame straightening, if severe enough, would/could compromise the structural integrity if not addressed. That said, if it were just some moderate channeling/plating to reinforce you might have some luck looking at a fab repair, but anything really structural or in an area that is not 'workable' then might be a hard find.
