I'm not very mechanic savy. My car started having trouble getting fuel one day and hesitates, acts like its flooding, will have a miss especially has trouble sometimes on hills. And while other times it runs just fine. When the problem first happend It would start then immediately die but after about 20 minutes of waiting fired and ran just fine. Was throwing 2 codes p0174 and p0171. I cleaned the fuel filter, pecked on the idle control valve lol, checked the fuel flow valve. Cleaned mass air sensor. None of this helped, had to cut slits in exhaust and in Cadillac converters. It runs fine some days and like crap on others check engine light is currently off. Me and my old lady rely on this car for our jobs we work at the same plant and are a lil strapped for cash so I'm trying to fix this for us so we dont lose our jobs. I usually dont ask this but please help me. I'm stumped and not very car savy. Here's the specs off of my code reader.

Your fuel trims indicate a lean condition. You should be +/- 5%. I would check the following:
1. fuel delivery. Replace the fuel filter, you cannot clean them. Check of fuel pressure.Possible weak fuel pump.
2. vacuum leaks. I would replace all vacuum leaks on a twenty year old vehicle.
3. Possible intake manifold leaks allowing extra air into the mix.
4. MAF sensor faulty.Reading should be around 3.8-4.2 give or take. Yours raises suspisions. Try disconnecting it and see if the engine runs better. Make sure the air filter isn't blocked telling the MAF there is insufficient air coming in.Make sure the air intake hose, downstream from the MAF isn't loose or has a hole in it.
5 .Faulty oxygen sensor.
6. Leak in the exhaust system.

If filter is clean check both fuel pump and pressure regulator Not sure but might be one of them
