Default gear oil

Has the Crown Vic also been switched to 75W140?? My manual for 2002 says 80w90, but I've heard Ford has abandoned this in favor of the 75w140. True or false?

I don't know of any special change ,
However, 75W140 is synthetic base where 80W is mineral base.
Have drained out 80W ,cleaned some and installed 75W140 , no problems.
Synthetic costs more too.
