Default Need help from a Crown Vic owner

Here's the situation, my mother-in-law has a 92 Crown Vic with a 4.6 I recently replaced the head gasket(passenger side) and I am sure that I put everything back together according to specification to include correct timing. When I start the car it will idle for a second or two and then stall. I replaced the MAF sensor and still have the same problem. Check this out, when I disconnect the MAF sensor the car will stay running (rough but it idles), I am pretty sure all the vacuum lines are all hooked up correctly. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Any suggestions? Any input is greatly appreciated. THX.
