I believe you/he has a more serious concern right now and that is to determine why all the brake fluid was lost. Could it be the pads were never checked and wore to the point where the caliper could no longer compensate and possibly jammed the remaining part of the pad against the rotor destroying the caliper and cooking the seals and allowing the fluid to go out? Let's hope not. Just speculation at this time because I have seen this more than once.

My mom had a 2001 Lincoln Continental Towncar *Signature Series* w/ 500 miles on it when, the rear brake calipers which have carbon fiber pistons in them, and after 6 months the calipers were shot, and the stealership tried to tell me that they had to be replaced, and the pads as well as the rotors too, I pitched a fit because I've worked in the aviation industry (plus I've worked on cars since I was 10,and now I'm pushing 42), and if the carbon fiber had so much as a tiny bubble in the carbon fiber piston it will break given enough pressure, so I told them there's NO way we're paying for a set of pads, rotors and calipers that, plus we hadn't even gone through first set of pads on the front yet, so I told them I'll pay for labor and NOTHING ELSE and that's all we paid for, so I suggest you check your rear caliper pistons.
