Default What is the value of a 1993 crown victoria lx?

Hello all....

I have found a really nice used car and want to determine how much should I pay for it??

It is a 1993, blue crown victoria LX model that has only 5,000 miles on it...

It appears to have been owned by an eccentric old man who only did weekend errands on it since new.
Always garaged kept , Showroom condition, in an out.
interior no evidence of any use.
engine completely clean, all plastic and rubber looks showroom
undneath - not rust all painted surfaces shiny black (as new)

MY PROBLEM????

What is a car that age worth? The owners nephew who is selling it is asking..... $13,000 for it.

PLEASE HELP WITH IDEAS!!!???

I wouldn't give anything over 3500. 13K is laughable. It is 27 years old and those Crown Vics were plentiful and will not be worth much, regardless of mileage. With 5k miles on it, there are likely a lot of issues with it. Sitting around that long is worse than driving it. Use the 13k to buy a car 3-4 years old and you will have something way more depndable. Worst car I ever owned was a hard to believe low mileage 97 Buick owned by an old lady. It nickle and dimed me to death. I sold it after two years and was glad to get rid of it..

Thank you for your wise reply...

I ended up seeing it and long test drive. I found an oil leak that may have been a rear main seal...

Yes, the old rubber of a 27 year old car will be the death of it...

thanks again

That's solid advice from Raski. Twenty-seven year old vehicle with only 5K miles is a sketchy deal. Seals and bearing can dry, fuel can get gummy in the lines and tank, vacuum hoses dry and crack... Im sure it still has the original tires on it, those have to be replaced immediately. For 13K you can get an excellent condition late model used vehicle.

On the other hand , this old Vic could be awesome. You never know. But, either way, 13K is crazy.

I have a '99 Crown Vic that sat in a barn for 13 years after the owner passed away. Its worked out great for me 'cause I got it for free so I was able to invest in new fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, junk yard fuel rails ... dropped the fuel tank and had it boiled out, replaced the intake maniford, plugs and COP's,... a lot of work but it's turned out great ..... so I have a 21 year old vehicle with 50000 miles... great daily driver .....

Not to mention that the engine is likely sludged up and could have the original oil in it. Hydraulics within the transmission and braking system likely are on their way out too. Cooling system issues too. It is quite harmful to have a car sit around that long than to run it.
