Default 1973 Econoline worth it ?

To start, I have always been a member of one forum or another, mainly for car enthusiasts, since i was a teenager. But now @ 34 years old, I just felt old by registering to a forum board once again while my kid checks his TikTok on his cell, my wife posts on IG, and i'm sitting on the computer, typing on a keyboard, while im not at work.

Time flies by. ANYWAYS.

There is a 1973 Ford Econoline for sale in my area. Looks rough, v6 3 speed powered, but runs. The seller wants 5k, Which I think is a....good deal?
The only other ford that i've had ay experience with, was my family work truck, an econoline from 1989 with a diesel engine. It was a pain in the *** to work with, but reliable. All my other cars have been Chevy or Dodge, but i LOVE how this vans look and I see great potential.

The current owner says that the van needs a new driveshaft. How complicated would it be for a weekend mechanic to do, and if not, how much would such a job be on average for the actual mechanic to do?
What else should I look for when inspecting the van ?

Thanks for your help, and yes, I will search and research this subject on your previous posts. Don't yell.
