Hi ,
new to this forum just bought a mint 1988 E-250 camper with a
5.8L / 351W & C6 .......

1) This thing sucks gas .....I mean lots of gas !
anything we can modify or do to help on this ?


2) exhaust leak that seems to come from " air pump" is it possible ?

3) can I remove this air pump ......?

Unfortunately, the 5.8L and the 5.4L are not known for their economy.
Usually the exhaust leak you hear from the air pump is because there is a burned check valve in the line from the air pump to the exhaust manifold. I have seen vehicles with the same equip that had that the air pump deleted and check valve and exhaust openings plugged. We cannot direct or suggest that you disable any emission equip. Other than that the 5.8s were quite reliable if properly maintained.
