I bought this today, cleaned out about a mountain of hornet nests from around different areas and checked fluids first thing. This is my first ford I have owned besides a Taurus when I turned 16. In the bay is a 5.0L from what I have learned today. 04297 miles on the odometer and records show 04183 miles in 2013.
Last documented maintenance: New distributor 6-19-13
I'm honestly not sure if this date is from 2019 or 2013, but the distributor itself is blue.
Today: 8-20-2021
Put new battery in, the one that was in it was from 2018 and I couldn't get it to do much other than groan slightly.
With the new battery the van turned over but would not crank. Plenty of winawinawina but no chickachickachicka if you know what I mean. I followed the battery up with the following and include a portion of spraying starter fluid into the intake and trying to crank it between each step.-drain gas tank-check 1 spark plug visually
-check same spark plug with sparkplug lightbulb check tool ( no light visible)-replace distributor coil pack
-check same spark plug again with plug checker ( no light visible)
And that is where I stopped today. I also bought a distributor cap which I will likely put on tomorrow.
I'm just looking for some guidance, I want to have it ready for Bonnaroo I have about 10 days. 😁
