Default 1988 E150 parking brake

Hi team, Happy New Year to all.

My 1988 E150 parking brake foot lever won't engage. I can push it down, but it won't stay down unfortunately. My questions are, is there a place where I can get a new one from. Do other types of Fords use the same set up F150 (1988) and has any one ever pulled one apart before? I tried Rock Auto but there is nothing listed. I suspect it has something to do with the release lever, but as I have never seen one apart before I could be wrong. Again, any help is very much appreciated. Cheers

Before jumping the gun, did you look at the assy , it may only need some lubrication or possibly a sticking part.

Have never had to replace any. Most times the problem was due to a lot of rust gathered there. Take a close look ,it could save you a lot of unnecessary work and trouble.

Thanks Hanky.
Its really a small area to see but I will give it a go. everything seems to be working and you can feel the springs returning, but the ratchet just wont engage. I would assume that the area that would be rusty/dirty etc would be up inside the mechanism where the ratchet and the release meet.
Again, thank you for your response.
Cheers
Wayne
