1989 ford e350 gas issues
Hello folks I have a question and I am at my wits end with this van. So I have an 1989 ford e350 club wagon with the front and rear gas tanks. Little bit of back story I just bought this vehicle has 46,000 original miles and was a church van that sat still for last 12 years.
This thing will not get gas to the engine. So I have done a lot of diagnosing and have replaced all the following parts because the gas tank was full of gunk from old gas.
front fuel tank, rear fuel tank, front low pressure fuel pump, rear low pressure fuel pump, diverter valve, fuel filter, and high pressure fuel pump. It does not matter which tank I switch the selector to it will not run. I hear both the high pressure fuel pump and the low pressure fuel pump running for the tank I have selected.
Here is the real kicker though. If I remove the diverter valve and run the lines straight from the motor to a specific tank the van runs perfect and does not miss a lick. Can go as fast as you want with zero problems. As soon as you hook it back up to the diverter valve to be able to use both gas tanks as soon as you crank it back up it starts to spit and sputter and knocks off.
I literally don’t know anything else I can possibly do to this thing and am dying for advice and help.
Thanks in advance!
