Hello I need help getting tension on the belt around the alternator and a diagram of how the belt a goes around the pulleys!

 

I think it's called the serpentine belt

 

There should be a diagram under the hood, maybe on the core sppt.

 

If you type in on Google ,"Ford 460 engine belt diagram", you will see several pictures that you could use.

The vehicle may be up there in years and most likely has not had the tensioner replaced. If that is the case ,now is the time to do it !
