1992 E250 Van Camper loosing Transmission Fluid
My 1992 Van Camper with 42,000 Miles hasn't had any transmission fluid loss in my memory. After a very hard pull getting my boat up a launching ramp, it quickly leaked over 4 quarts of transmission fluid. It came out of the torque converter housing. After replacing the fluid, I drove home 100+ miles without the boat. There was no more fluid loss and it shifted fine. This is a 5.8 with an E40D transmission.
I guessed the transmission overheated and blew the fluid past the front seal. But I am surprised there is no more leakage. The fluid is a nice pink color. Any thoughts on service I should perform now?

As you know, very few things fix themselves, and that front converter seal is no exception. It will let go at the worst time, never fails ! It would be a good idea to check the converter sealing surface when the converter is off, there could be a problem lurking there, Will you be doing the work or have it done by another shop. The reason I ask, if everything checks out OK make sure the converter is marked and installed in the same position on the flex plate/flywheel. Sometimes vibration problems begin when position is changed.

Thanks for the reply. My sentiments exactly. It is an RV and I don't like to think of a problem in the boondocks. I think I would feel better if it was still leaking. I will be having the work done. Thanks for the info about vibration.
