it is running poor at idle and shouts off tried the air control valve do not know how to test the electrical. my son says it is the fuel pump. any help would be good thanks.

Any check engine light on? Also,, if you just open the throttle 'slightly' (just enough to be off idle) does it correct and run fine? If it were the fuel pump, it wouldn't have any top end performance. Generally fuel delivery/volume/filter etc. problems affect more of the cruise speeds.. EGR, TPS, or vacuum leaks can affect idle stabilty as well..

 

my '99 does the same thing occasionally. I have to disconnect the battery for a couple minutes then re-connect and then she runs fine. only does it a maybe 2-3 times per year

 

thanks after i posted this i went out and started messing with it i unpluged the map sensor and it ran fine i think that might be the problem.
