Default (1995) 351/5.8L - HP and torque upgrade

Happy Holidays All…

I am shopping for a used 1992 – 1996 Econoline 150 conversion van with the 351/5.8L…

I believe that beginning in 1994 the 351/5.8 had a small decrease in HP but had an increase in Torque…

OVER AND ABOVE THAT…

I had read somewhere that for the 1995 model year the ford 351/5.8L… HP and torque had an upgrade…. For the model year 1995 ford had used the upgraded 351/5.8L. F150 Lighting engine in some of their vans… A difference in the # 8 position in the VIN number is supposed to identify this…

"H" indicates 5.8L 210hp@3600 - 325tq@2800
"R" indicates 5.8L 240hp@4200 - 340tq@3200

Does anyone know this to be a fact..?

Does anyone know what the production numbers were..?

How many of the upgraded F150 Lighting engines found their way into the E150 vs. the standard 351/5.8L...?

Would I be more likely to find the upgraded 351/5.8L in the Cargo Van, Clubwagon or a Conversion Van?

1995 the only year Ford did this..?

Thank you.

See if you have 3 bar gt40 casting marks on the front or rear of the head,You may even see a casting GT on the base of the heads near the lower head bolt areas. If its a lighting longblock it will have the gt40 heads.
