Will an axle that is known to be compatible with a 2001 e350 7.3 TD, be compatible with a 1998 of the same spec? The year of the axle is unknown but when my dad bought it, but he bought it to replace in his 2001 which was never done. Would the brakes cause trouble in the conversion? ABS would be nice but isn't necessary if that won't be possible.

 

Best advice I can offer is to record the assembly ID tag numbers off the tag from each which should be bolted on the axle.Maybe this site can help once you have those numbers.
