1998 E150 4.2L Range Sensor Fuse Blown
CJB Fuse 34 - 10A - Transmission Range (TR) Sensor
Van got stolen and recovered, battery replaced (got stolen as well), ignition cylinder replaced, shift leveler replaced.
No crank no start and found that F34 fuse blown in START position all the time, but not in RUN position.
Test done as follows:
1) Ignition switch bench test with DMM on continuity/resistance and compared the result with a new ignition switch I also bought just in case and the old ignition switch seems to be in good working condition still.
2) Tested BJB and CJB fuses all good with very low resistance.
3) Battery disconnected, using test probe from ignition switch starter trigger wire to the pin on the right of F34 in CJB (with fuse pulled) showed continuity with key in START position.
Pin on the left without continuity I assume that end goes to the range sensor on the tranny.
4) Battery connected, using test probe from ignition switch starter trigger wire to the pin on the right of F34 in CJB (with fuse pulled) showed battery voltage (with voltage drop) with key in START position.
5) Battery disconnected, testing continuity, pin on the right of F34 in CJB (with fuse pulled) showed continuity to chassis ground on the steering column.
Pin on the left, no.
Test # 5 got me by surprise. Should F34 be grounded to chassis at rest and 12V when key turns to START position?
Any suggestion what else I should try next?
