Default 1999 v6 harness/electrical issues (pics)

ahi all,

I got this van, 1999 4.2 v6 160k miles, about 4 months ago when it had about six SES codes and drove terrible. I noticed some exposed and damaged wires on the harness just right of the air intake, i reconnected one wire on a whim and all problems disappeared. It drove fine for about 3000 miles until this weekend. Now i believe my problems are still stemming from this harness issue, the floowing codes i am getting are
p0453
fuel tank pressure sensor condition
p0708
transmission range sensor high condition
p0123
throttle position sensor "a" circuit
p0113
intake air temp sensor high circuit
p1289
cylinder head temp sensor out of range-high
p0118
engine coolant temperature sensor circuit high input

Now before when i first got the van it had just about all these codes but not exactly each one. i think the engine coolant temp and cylinder head temp are new.
So heres what the harness looks like

This is the affected area

Heres a close up, theres about 5 or 6 white wires with a red/pink stripe all connected to that large black connector which splits into two wires, before i simply connected one of these red and white striped wires with another on the harness that was free and as you know presto no more issues

Heres a close up of the other two white/red striped wires

and a close up of the connection between the 5 white/red striped wires and the black connector

Also there is a single lone white with a red stripe wire hanging out on the left side of the harness

Besides the SES codes, the issues now are very high idle, O/D light flashing on the shifter, and it dies after running for 30 seconds

My questions are if i should try rewiring? and how? can i replace this section of harness? is it easy? expensive?

Thank you for your help
pat

Usually when you get a s---load of codes like you have one circuit that is common to all or most of them can be the problem. Just out of curiosity how did all those wires get damaged as they are? Usually you would reconnect each wire with it's same colored mate. Until you know why they all were disconnected/damaged you will need to do one at a time and see what results you get. There may be nothing special wrong aside from the wires being separated, but it would be necessary to work from a wiring schematic and trace the disconnected wires and see just what they control. Depending on why they are as they are will determine what your next steps should be.

Can you trace each of the items you have a code for and see if they have any colors of the kind that might match those that are severed. What I am trying to determine is , if one of the severed wires is common to each of the sensors that are kicking up the code.
If that appears to be the case then invest in a couple of jumper wires with alligator clips on them and connect them one at a time and see if you eliminate that code.It appears something/somebody just pulled the wires apart. It may have been accidental or possibly intentional. Will wait for your reply.
