Cool 1998 e-350 club w/ v10 church van

Our Pastor asked (since I'm a mechanic) if I could look at our 15 pass Ford van. It had a serv. eng. light & coded "too lean". I found a hole in vacuum hose @ the intake & replaced. The code went away and it ran allot better, but...it bogs down @ lower RPM's and a loss of power. I've kept at it for the last couple weeks ( replaced MAP sensor and allot more dried up vacuum hoses) but it still has same. I read here about vacuum canister pinhole leaks due to corrosion from road salt. When I look up "vacuum canister" for this @ Rockauto it doesn't show anything. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

The vacuum canister on some vehicles is placed of all places the last time I remember on the passenger side just behind the front wheel but under the vehicle. Did you get a chance to check the fuel filter?

Sometimes it's good to sit down and think about what may be happening.
For example, if there is a problem with the system and the engine is running rich, the computer gets that message from the oxygen sensor and leans out the fuel mixture. Could this be what is causing the lean condition? It might be a good idea to look for both lean and rich causing problems.

Hanky, not sure where the oxygen sensor is. But that sounds reasonable. When I say I'm a mechanic I should let you know I'm not a automotive mechanic, I'm a CNC machine mechanic. I will work on my own cars, and do favors, but I respect those who do this for a living. It's frustrating now because it's starting to get personal between me and this ford. But thanks
