2007 E-250 Backup Camera Wiring
I'm trying to expand my clientele, and I was looking for a little assistance. I normally work on security/surveillance systems, but recently a customer asked if I could install a backup camera on one of their delivery vans. The would like the monitor for the camera to only come on once the van is put in reverse.
My plan is (or was if somebody here has a better one), to splice the monitor power into the reverse lights circuit. Sounds easy enough. Now I just need to know what wires to splice into and where is the most accessible place to do so.
PLEASE HELP!!
P.S. Pictures or diagrams would be AWESOME!!!

There are a few places you can tap into the reverse light wiring, but the safest is probably where you and anyone else can find it if necessary. You could always get the color wire from the back-up lamps in the rear then trace the harness up to the middle or front of the van and splice into that color wire where it is not exposed to road splash etc.
It might be a good idea to place a fuse in the wire that will be going to power the back up unit. Just choose a fuse with a smaller rating than the one presently for the back -up lights .
