Default 2012 e-250

Greetings Ya'll!

This is My First Post, regarding a very "sweet" 2012 E-250Cargo Van,that looks like it came off of the "show room floor", & yet it has 219,000 on it.

I know that I'm going to have many, many, questions, for I plan on doing all Maintenance & Repairs on this vehicle, as much as possible.

My 1st question is how do I go about getting a key made for the doors, cuz' the key that I was given will only turn the Ignition?

The key fob does open & lock the doors.

And,.... Regarding Repairs,... What Manuals should I get,... Is "Chilton's" the "Go To" Manual,or is there better?

Depending on how involved you want to get and how much $$ you want to invest will determine where you go.

A good shop manual is not cheap , but covers just about everything. You might check out "Helm Inc", for quality manuals/ info.

I would suggest you either start with a locksmith or dealership because we are talking some complicated stuff and if you only have one working key , that could be an invitation to problems if the only key you have develops a problem. It does sound like something was changed and that could be why one key does not open the vehicle and also permit starting the engine.
We are talking about a key and not a little remote that you must have in or near the vehicle to start it , yes/No ?

Greetings Hanky!

Since I want to keep this Van on the road, for approx. 5 years,& with a great deal of consideration towards Our Economy,...As much as possible,I want to make the "Repairs/Tune-ups, etc.", & I realize that an entire LIbrary on this Van may go as high as $1200.00, if not more,... But hopefully less.

I got two quotes from two Ford Dealerships in my area, of $220.00, for a duplicate "Key, & Fob", & I am going to find a Locksmith to get a quote.

Yes,....It is a Key, & a separate "Fob".

Is there actually also a "chip" in the plastic, on the square end of the key?
