Default 2013 lighting issues

I recently added a strip of led lights to the rockers of my 2013 E150 for each door--driver, passenger, side barn-doors--and pulled the hot off the front dome light. I wanted them to come on with the door unlock or lock and then fade out--like the interior lights do. They work great--exactly as I had intended.....BUT.....I've lost control of the interior lights through the rotating "dimmer" for the dash lights and it no longer turns the interior lights on. I'd actually like to add some more interior lighting, but need to figure this glitch out first!

What gives????

Thanks in advance!

Late model vehicles have many modules to control various things and they are so sensitive to voltage fluctuations (additions/alterations) that when they detect something unusual they shut down the system to protect it. You may need to find another way to get the control you desire. First I would suggest that you remove the connection for the LEDs and see if everything is OK. If so , you are lucky ! You might be able to tap into a different part of the interior light system that is not so sensitive to alteration.
