I have a question, had the plugs , oil , and serpentine belt replaced . Now the van stalls out and dies when you brake . It is also giving bank 1 and 2 ox sensor codes . As far as I know the idle re learn was redone . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It was coding lean bank 1 and 2 . Both front o2 sensors were replaced . It doesn't die now but the rpms are still a little wonky when braking . It drops to about 4 then spikes up to 600 to 700 rpms . But while it's idling or in motion it's totally fine . It only has issues when braking . They disconnected the battery not sure if the re learn process was done correctly.

Lean codes can be set by many things. Some include low fuel pressure, vacuum leaks and even exhaust leaks up stream from the O2 sensors. I would bet the O2 sensors are doing their job.

The problem kinda cleared up yesterday . But this morning it's all back again . Now the codes say the banks are rich . It dies everytime you stop . I'm thinking it's a PCM issue but I am no mechanic.

Hi Sparky,
Lets look at just what happens when you apply the brakes.

The vacuum assisted brakes utilize vacuum to assist with stopping power.
So there is a pretty big demand for vacuum and normally the engine can handle that.
If there is an abnormal amount required it can create a pretty big vacuum demand.
There is a good chance the intake system has a vacuum leak and when you apply the brakes it is more than the engine can normally handle. There is a good chance a vacuum hose was disturbed and is leaking and when you step on the brake the mixture is too lean and the engine stalls..You might look for a cracked , loose or broken vacuum hose connection.

See pots below.. This sounds like a Vacuum leak as others have stated.

I'm not sure what different parts your talking about . I just had the plugs changed and now it dies when I stop or brake . Also the rpm gauge was reading 0 and I was driving . Then it just starts working again .

sorry my post above was for a different thread.. not sure how that happened.. It sounds like you have a Vacuum leak.

You have lots of Vacuum lines all over it and anyone of them leaking will cause symptoms like yours. Look up how to do a Vacuum Test. Go get yourself a Vacuum gauge and have at it. It only takes one cracked rubber hose.. It is Very possible when the Plugs were changed someone pulled on a hose a bit to hard and cracked one.. They get dry and stiff with age. Like us
