Default 88 Econoline differential

Hi,

I have a 88 econoline e350 with dually rear differential. Recently I has brought this unit to a mechanic for an inspection. After $350 he advise me that he can't fix the rear left side drive shaft seal leak and did not pass my truck for the roads. He mentioned that the drive shaft bolt is welded to the differential therefore he can't not fix it unless I get a whole new rear differential.
Since then I has found a 91 Ford dually differential and wondering if anyone can tell me if I can use this for my truck.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

John.
