Advice on 1992 E350
I am considering purchasing a 1992 For E350. I haven't gone to drive it yet because it's an hour away and I am trying to research things to look for. I am unable to take it to my mechanic before purchasing. Seller says it runs and he drives it regularly. 118,000 miles and newish tires. Seats are removed but he has them. Clear title. AC works and "heat in rear" works. Seller says he needs to sell it in order to buy an engine for his truck. It seems perfect for me based on price, size, and the working wheel chair lift.
A few questions if anyone has a minute:
A few questions if anyone has a minute:
- What should I check out knowing that I will be at sellers property with minimal tools?
- Am I insane to think this vehicle can take me on 600 mile road trips and back?
- General thoughts on roadtripping in this thing loaded with lots of tools and heavy stuff.
- Thoughts on towing capacity, trailer types, "heavy duty bumper" (this is an option?). I have looked up the numbers but I am wondering on practical application and how towing effects speeds, mileage, handling, etc.
- Ballpark range you would say this is worth based on the little info I have given.
Knowing what engine it has is important . If any maintenance records are available, they would be helpful also. When maintained well, they were quite dependable and provided good service. Don't know about parts availability where you are or intend to drive.
